Can a Belize dive shop take card payments online?
Yes. Seascape takes card payments through the Belize Bank gateway, so a guest pays by card on your booking page and the money reaches your own Belize Bank merchant account. There is no offshore processor in the middle and no second platform holding your takings until a payout date you did not choose.
It has been live on the production gateway since 16 August 2026. A payment lands on the booking it belongs to, the receipt goes out by email, and what is still owed on that Booking ID goes down by what was paid.

What currency does a card payment settle in?
Belize dollars. The Belize dollar is pegged at two to one against the United States dollar, so a booking priced at US$160 is charged and settled as BZD 320. Your booking page can show a guest the price in the currency they expect while your account and your books stay in BZD.
The rate the merchant account settles at is configuration rather than code, which matters if the peg ever moves: the number changes in one place and every payment taken afterwards follows it.

Does it handle tour guide licences?
Yes. A tour guide licence in Belize is issued by the Belize Tourism Board and it expires, so each staff member carries their licence number and its expiry date, and a reminder goes out before one lapses. A guide whose licence ran out last month is a problem you want to hear about in advance.

Is Seascape built in Belize?
Yes, and it is run here too. It was built with a working Belizean dive shop rather than designed for a market someone read about, which is why the vocabulary is a two-tank and a manifest rather than a resource and an inventory slot, and why the first payment gateway it learned was the Belize Bank one.
What about shops that also sell tours, not just diving?
A dive, a snorkel trip, a cave-tubing tour and a day sail are all activities: each has its own price, capacity, deposit rule and the questions it asks a guest. A shop that runs two dives in the morning and a river tour in the afternoon runs them on one calendar and one till.

Do guests need to sign waivers before they arrive?
They can, and for most shops that is the point. The waiver goes out with the confirmation, is signed on the guest's own phone, and is filed against their record before they reach the dock. A minor's waiver is signed by a guardian, and the record says who signed it.

Where in Belize do shops use it?
The dive and tour towns, north to south. Each has a different shape of day — two departures before lunch on Ambergris Caye, hotel-desk volume on Caye Caulker, whale-shark season off Placencia — and the same three problems underneath: the seat sold twice, the list that is out of date, and the money that does not add up at closing.

The busiest dive town in the country. Hol Chan and Shark Ray Alley run several times a day, Blue Hole day trips leave before dawn, and a shop's morning is two departures deep before the office opens.

Snorkel tours on volume, sold at the dock and by hotel desks, with a walk-in rate that makes capacity the whole job. Dive shops here run the same reef and the same channel, with fewer boats and less margin for an oversold trip.

Where the day trips and the liveaboards leave from, and where the cruise-ship business lands. Departures are early, the guest list changes at the last minute, and the manifest has to be right before the boat clears the harbour.

Reef and cayes off the central coast, with a strong mix of diving, snorkelling and inland tours sold by the same shop. A single operator here often runs a boat in the morning and a van to a cave in the afternoon.

Whale-shark season at Gladden Spit, day trips to Silk Cayes and Laughing Bird, and a peninsula full of hotels that book on behalf of their guests. Deposits and seat counts are the difference between a full boat and an argument at the dock.

The quietest end of the coast, with Sapodilla Cayes trips that depend on weather and on having enough guests to justify the fuel. A trip that can be filled from a waitlist is a trip that runs.
