    Gift cards

A gift card sold in December is spent at the till in March

Issue a card with a code, email it to the person receiving it, and redeem it onto the customer's store credit.

Gift cards the shop has issued: the code, who it was sent to, what is left on it and whether it has been redeemed.

    Without it

Somebody wants to buy a dive for their partner. The shop writes a receipt, the partner arrives in March with a photograph of it, and nobody can say whether it has already been used.

    What Seascape does

A gift card is a code with a balance: GC and eight characters from an alphabet that holds no letter a digit could be mistaken for. Issue it from the sales screen and email it to the person receiving it; they can check the balance on a page of their own at any time. Redeeming it moves the balance onto that customer's store credit, where the till spends it like any other money.

    • The holder checks the balance themselves.
    • A redeemed card reads zero and says so.
    • The balance is spent at the till like any other money.

    What is included

    • A code of the form GC-XXXX-XXXX
    • No 0, 1, O or I in a code, so nobody reads it wrong
    • Emailed to the person receiving it
    • A public page that shows the balance
    • An expiry date, if you set one
    • Redeems onto the customer's store credit
    • Sold from the till like a product
